Clipper_Erickson
Residencies

Around_the_piano Clipper Erickson has extensive experience in giving informal performances and presentations for all types of audiences in unconventional locations. Erickson draws on his extensive experience in working with children, adults and seniors as a teacher and performer to give presentations of an interactive character–the audience is invited to comment on, start discussions on and participate in the music making. Erickson has a special love and knowledge of American music and enjoys drawing parallels between the music and periods in American history and culture. He has given presentations for schools, church groups, employee organizations, civic clubs such as Rotary, and in prisons. Making classical music accessible to school children, particularly in the elementary grades, is of particular importance to his musical mission.

  • Demonstrations for community groups (e.g. Churches, Civic Organizations, Piano Teachers Associations, Employee groups)

  PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Any area about 10 feet square with adequate lighting
  • A tuned piano in good condition or a digital piano (preferably with a full keyboard)

“Clipper immediately breaks down the often stiff, formal demeanor of the concert pianist. He is relaxed and offers interesting and valuable insights into the music. With our students Clipper encouraged questions and engaged them with questions”

Harry Dietzler, Executive Director, Upper Darby Performing Arts Center

“It is not an exaggeration to say that his performance of Chopin and Liszt astounded our faculty and audience members alike. Equally impressive was his ability to relate to the audience during the pre-concert lecture.”

Kathy Judd, Director, Washington Conservatory of Music

“Mr. Erickson brings keen intellect, a sharp ear, great humanity, and imagination to his performances. He came to the preconcert discussions where his winning personality, down-to-earth presentation, humor, and compelling understanding of music, social history, and his audiences made him an instant success as well.”

Jed Gaylin, Music Director, Bay-Atlantic Symphony Principal Conductor, Cape May Music Festival
